Re: Thunderbird Address Book Name Display

Later versions seem to have changed this. I found something similar in Address Book, View, Show Name As ... and then you can select last name first...

This does not fix the display name field! It only changes the view for lists of names. I would prefer an option to change the display name to last, first!

Re: Life After College

Erich, you are right on target. I remember when I left college, I was amazed by all the TIME that I had...until I realized that I had no more summer vacation or midday breaks. Still, it is nice to be able to leave work at work, at least most of the time.

I, too, have noticed the stark contrast in attitude between non-believers and believers, and at times, it does seem to be hard to connect with the non-believers. Since I am a volunteer in charge of a family support group for my husband, I'm supposed to be able to identify with the other families (to a point), and that can often be a very hard thing. It helps when I view my support group as my ministry, even if it's not called that.

It is good to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this disconnect. May God bless you as you continue to find your place in "the world outside".

(On an unrelated note, thank you for responding to my comment on one of the LTD articles so long ago. What a pleasant surprise to see your email in my inbox!)

Re: The Beauty of Grace and Relient K

This line absolutely caught my ear the other day when I first heard this song.

If you remember the scripture verse that God "causes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust..." that is what this means.

If there were "true justice" according to our worldly, human standards, then it would only storm on the heathen. Bad things would only happen to bad people. Treachery and tragedy would only come to unbelievers.

Praise GOD that the beauty of his grace is that it does make life unfair, for each and every one of us is a heathen at some point - making a bad choice in life, forgetting to confess our sin, living beyond our means, backbiting and slandering. That IS the beauty of grace - it is available to all (especially to me when I need it the most!), whether we think it is "fair" in this world or not.

Remember, folks, some day when we stand before God at the Judgement, we will ALL be equal. We are all going to be right about some things, and every one of us will be wrong about some things in our lives. What's in your heart?

Re: More thoughts on LTD, Quixtar, and Amway

To all who have taken the time to comment -

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It's been interesting to discuss all sorts of aspects of this topic, but I simply don't have the time to keep up with these discussions. You each have only one person to write to (me), whereas I am singlehandedly trying to respond adequately to all who write. In the past day alone, I've received 3 or 4 messages, both on here and via e-mail.

So, if I asked a question on here that you wanted to have a chance to answer, shoot me an email through my contact page and I will read it and respond if I have time.

One final comment ... my other reason for closing comments is that I felt that the same ideas were being reiterated repeatedly. New people would join the discussion, not having read the existing discussion, and I was finding myself doing a lot of copy-and-pasting. If you were hoping to put in your two cents, I'd recommend reading through the entire discussion because it is likely that someone else said something similar and I already replied to it.
